I am Melis Turkoglu, the data controller. You can contact me using the details on my website for any questions about your data.

I collect only what’s necessary to:

  • Provide counselling services

  • Keep accurate records as required

  • Communicate with you about appointments
     

This includes:

  • Your name, date of birth, and contact details

  • GP contact info (needed for safeguarding)

  • Counselling session notes and relevant background info you share

  • Email correspondence related to your counselling
     

Legal basis for processing
I process your data with your consent, to meet legal obligations, and to provide safe counselling.
 

How I store your information

  • Data is stored securely on password-protected devices.

  • Notes are encrypted and saved securely (e.g., on OneDrive).

  • Information is kept for 7 years after counselling ends, then securely deleted. You can request earlier deletion (the “right to be forgotten”).
     

Who I share your information with
I only share data:

  • When required by law

  • If you or another person’s safety is at risk

  • With your clear permission
    If I’m unable to continue practising, a trusted colleague may contact you to provide closure.
     

Your rights
You have the right to:

  • Access, correct, or request deletion of your data

  • Restrict or object to processing

  • Withdraw consent anytime

  • Complain to the ICO if you have concerns
